"DR IAN ROSS ANSWERS SOME OF THE MORE COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS"

Will You See My Dog?

No. Sorry. No dogs allowed. As the only cats-only clinic in the South Island we get this one a lot. We feel that when cats are stressed or unwell they prefer to be in a dog-free environment. Our patients are very strict on this issue. Every other vet clinic in the Christchurch area will see your dog.

What Do I Do In An Emergency With My Cat?

Call us immediately. During regular business hours we can give you instructions. Outside of regular business hours our vets are available to you 24/7 and will meet you at the clinic within minutes if needed. Not sure if it's an emergency? Call us anyway - we're here to help. You may just need some advice.

Do You Do House Calls?

We don’t usually do house calls as we are very limited in what we can do without equipment and nurses available. However in certain situations we can arrange a vet visit for registered clients. Call us and we can discuss options.

Which Vaccinations Does My Cat Need?

Each cat is unique in his/her lifestyle. This is taken into consideration when we choose a vaccine strategy for your cat. Our goal is to neither over-vaccinate nor under-vaccinate. And the lifestyle of each cat may differ from year to year. One vaccine strategy does not fit all cats. This also applies to deworming and flea prevention. We want to find the best preventative care plan for your cat. More isn't always better. And less can be risky.

Do You Believe In Microchip Identification?

This is currently the best way for vets and shelters to find you if your cat wanders or gets injured. If your cats leave the house unattended please make sure they have a chip and that the chip is accurately registered on the National Database. Not sure? Bring your cat to us and we'll scan him/her for free and check that the registration is current.

What's The Best Diet For My Cat?

I know the best diet for MY cat. But we need to know more about YOUR cat to answer this. Dietary recommendations change as we keep up with current research. This will be discussed during your cat's yearly health check. Call us if you're unsure of what to feed your cat.

Should My Cat Be Spayed Or Neutered?

Spayed/Neutered cats live much longer with fewer health issues along the way. That's an easy one.
